What a bunch of crap...
Reports say the ice has two to ten inches of sloop on it, then 12 to 24+ inches of snow on top of that.
Snow shoes are the only way to get around, ATV's can't handle it and snow machines are having a hard time.
I'm not about to go out trudging in a mess like that...it just doesn't sound like fun.
Instead...I think I'll go sit under the winter cover of the boat,
crack open a Miller Lite...and make motor sounds.
And dream...
I'm seriously doubting if I'll do any legitimate ice fishing this winter.
Dang.
Fish on, fish H8 me.

Sloppy conditions aren't very fun, I wish you some cold weather and some hard ice, good luck!
Yea, it has been an odd mix of winter weather for sure. Here is hoping that somehow you can turn this situation around and have a great trip before ice out.
And all the fish in a 100 mile radius exhale...
When conditions are sloppy on the ice I'll follow a snow mobile trail out, although sitting under a tarp with a cold one sounds good too. Warmer weather this week should pack the slop Raz.
Ahhh Man you just got to Fishing, But the conditions must improve for you, All we have is Rain now so summer is on the way, How long does the ice stay for ?

Gerry, you kept the bad habbit to put the bungee cable on your steering wheel, even if you have installed a NFB steering system :-)
Slop makes alot of weight on top of the ice. Can be dangerous. Hopefully conditions will improve as I am heading out this week for some pike. Cool blog Raz. Check out my new blog about vermont fishing at www.bassnvt.blogspot.com. Happy fishing
Raz it will get better this past run of weather should help
