Man...we didn't have stuff like that when I was a kid!
But then again...these are adult toys!

I sure would like to have one as a Landlocked Atlantic Salmon!

Funny

As most of you know,
or don't know
whatever be the case.
I reside in Vermont.

And a friend of mine, Ludo, from Quebec, posted this on a local fishing forum.

Hope it doesn't piss off any "Woodchucks".

Lake Champlain Flood 2011

(latest up-date...May 7, 2011)

Burlington Vermont water-front
The flood stage for Lake Champlain is 100 feet above sea level.  The lake is nearing 103 feet, nearly eight feet above its "normal" level of 95.5 feet...and rising!
Not good news.
Lake side property owners are now at mother natures mercy.
And most fisherman are going to have to wait it out.

Mud-line.  Out over 120 feet of water.

And it's nearly impossible to get a boat in the water to fish.

5-4-2011 update: Aeiral photos from the Lake Champlain Basin Program are here: http://www.lcbp.org/Gallery/SpringFlood2011/index.html

5-7-2011
The NOAA has created a new web-page to keep up with the events/news/warnings of flooded Lake Champlain.  http://www.erh.noaa.gov/btv/lake/floodinfo.php

HOW HIGH'S THE WATER, MAMA?

Lake Champlain is over flood stage and many of her tributaries are spilling over their banks.
She's flooded...and full of debris.

Pulling a bunch of fish out might lower the level...
NOT

FISH GOD ROCK

My buddy Ben and I hit the shoreline in three different spots today...
messing around, casting and reeling.
And driving.
Having fun.
And got the skunk.
Fishing Lake Champlain.

If you fish and you don't catch fish...and don't tell anyone.
Is it still a skunk?

If  a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it,
Does it make a noise?

Warm-Weather Auction Items From Lake Champlain International

Lake Champlain International is starting off the soft-water season with a couple nice items going on auction.

One item that really caught my eye is this hand-made net.  The net is made from Ash and Walnut.
Very stylish...
Very cool!

JAPAN

In the wake of the recent disaster in Japan, my mind continually wanders, wondering about the future of this great civilization perched on a fragile Island in the Pacific Ocean...
flirting and dancing with the great Pacific Ring of Fire.
One of the folks my mind has often wandered toward is fellow blogger Manabu Kurita.

Manabu Kurita

Manabu is a fisherman from the country of Japan.  He holds the IGFA World Record Largemouth Bass...actually it's a shared record...a tie.
Manabu has a blog that I've followed since last summer: Keep Chasing the World Record.
I decided to check on Manabu...it appears he's okay and has escaped injury as I've found him to be "tweeting" and posting on his facebook account.

MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE PEOPLE OF JAPAN...
MAY THEY RECOVER, REBUILD, REGAIN STRENGTH, AND CONTINUE WITH THEIR GREAT WAY OF LIFE.
